INTRODUCTION
Reinforcing Ironworkers Local Union 416 provides clients throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura Counties and Las Vegas with highly trained, high quality Reinforcing Ironworkers. Our objective is to help our clients and our members prosper by providing the most productive, cost-effective, quality-minded workforce available anywhere. This objective is our commitment as a business organization serving a constructive role for this industry and your business.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Local 416 provides trained professional Reinforcing Ironworkers to commercial, industrial, and residential building contractors. Reinforcing Ironworkers Local Union 416 also operates an apprenticeship program to ensure the ongoing availability of trained, qualified workers.
We propose the following services:
Provision of skilled Reinforcing Ironworkers. Local 416 has over 3000 members in good standing based in and around Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura Counties and Las Vegas with available short and long-term employment. These craftsmen will meet and exceed all expectations for skill, attitude, and productivity– of which you will be the sole judge.
KEY BENEFITS
Here are some of the key benefits to becoming an affiliated client:
FLEXIBLE HELP – Having the help you need when you need it saves you money on labor costs. Local 416 members are available when you need them, for as long as you need them, even in cities where you don't usually do business. When you are done, their employment concludes or you can move them to another job. No recruitment or advertising. No time wasted chasing and interviewing. No “trying them out for a week or two”. We can put skilled, qualified workers on your doorstep in less than 24 hours, every time.
TRAINING– We spend more than $2,000 on every apprentice each year on training. That adds up to over 700 classroom hours in four years to certify a Journeyman Ironworker. We have a training center that is provided to the contractor and workforce at no additional charge. How much do you spend each year on safety training alone? Every Union employee you hire will save you that amount (typically between $500 and $2000 per employee) every single year.
LOWER SAFETY– RELATED COSTS– Our training programs stress the connection between safety and competitiveness. Local 416 members put safety first every time, which means you save on comp costs, downtime costs, and absenteeism costs.
PRODUCTIVITY– Higher productivity means higher profits. Local 416 members have to be the best trained most highly skilled and productive craftsmen available anywhere. That means no rework. That means on-time and on-budget. That means no unskilled hands.
MONEYMAKERS– Every contractor has his money-makers; maybe one or two out of every six workers. We can at least double the number you’ve got. How much more money would you make with twice the number of money-makers?
SUPERVISION– How long does it take you to develop a good foreman or superintendent? How much money does it cost you along the way? One of the most common reasons companies like yours become Union contractors is that they want to grow. We can provide qualified supervision. If you could add two foreman and crews next year, how much would that add to your bottom line?
COST SAVINGS
No benefits administration costs– one-stop solution Savings on prevailing wage projects with no load paid on the fringe benefits Savings from using approved apprentices at much lower rates; training while lowering your overall crew costs Lower turnover, as most of our members are in it for a career and not just a job.
LIKELY CONCERNS & OBSTACLES
Many companies are reluctant to consider working with a Union, many with good reason. In past years, many Unions forgot who paid the bills at the end of the day. A lot of them forgot that you can’t do without a strong and profitable employer base. As a result, we have changed our business model and our approach to servicing companies like yours. Things that you used to hear about Unions may have included:
Loss of control of your business
Can’t fire anyone
Problems between the crafts
Protection of bad workers
Those days have been over for many years, but we have to prove it in the field to our contractors every day. We have to be a proactive business partner with a modern view of meeting your operational and economic needs.
WHATS NEXT?
We would like to have an opportunity to present the benefits of our services. There is no obligation on your part. This would consist of a brief meeting to explain in detail how your company can benefit and, even more importantly, for you to see that we mean business. We know we have to prove ourselves before anything else. We would like to thank you for taking the time to evaluate this proposal and hope to have the opportunity to demonstrate how we can be an effective, value-added business partner.
